WE VT (Winter Enrichment at Virginia Tech) offers a Winter Enrichment program for gifted, high achieving, and eager middle school students in the New River Valley who want to explore a variety of humanities-focused learning experiences led by faculty and graduate students in the College of Liberal Arts and Human Sciences. The winter YOUTH program, a collaborative endeavor between the College of Liberal Arts and Human Sciences and the Center for Rural Education (with the Summer Enrichment Experience at VT) , aims to provide 6-7 courses during four Saturdays in February (9:30 – 11:30 am) to introduce young people (8-10 students per course) to the big ideas of the humanities. WE VT (Winter Enrichment at Virginia Tech) offers a variety of enrichment opportunities for gifted, talented, and eager middle school students in the New River Valley who want to explore the humanities. In partnership between the College of Liberal Arts and Human Sciences and the Center for Rural Education (with SEE VT–Summer Enrichment Experience at Virginia Tech), WE VT will offer 6-7 humanities-driven learning experiences developed by CLAHS faculty/graduate students and educators. Each of these learning experiences will be limited to 8-10 students. When: Four Saturdays in February 2024 from 9:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. Where: Virginia Tech- Blacksburg campus Registration will open December 15. These learning experiences are meant to showcase the unlimited possibilities found in the humanities fields. Expect to see enrichment opportunities in art, music, poetry, language, and MORE! Priority will be given to proposals that make connections to rural and/or place-based topics and approaches. Deadline to submit is November 17th.
